The National: Lit Up

I heard this track on 6 Music this morning and it’s been going round my head all day. I’m pleased to see that this is not only available on iTunes but also there’s a couple of videos floating about the internet.

To my ear this is more than a little reminiscent of Joy Division. Kate describes it as Snow Patrol with guts.

I’ve always thought of Snow Patrol as Coldplay with an amp and a distort pedal. So, listen to the National (or perhaps The National): Coldplay with an amp, a distort pedal, guts and, er, talent. No need to bring a good book.

Unlike, of course, Coldplay. For whom a crap book would be good enough.
