Right back: Martyn Booty
Martyn Booty cost Reading £75 000 when they signed him from Crewe Alexandra in January 1996. He began his career as a trainee at Coventry City but, thanks to a cruciate ligament injury, made just four League appearances for the Sky Blues before moving to Gresty Road in October 1993.
He quickly established himself in the Royals' first team, but his 1996-97 season was hampered by firstly a knee ligament injury and then a hernia problem. He missed several games last season through injury but was one of the more reliable defenders in the team. His best moment of the season came when his volley found the back of the net in the 2-1 win over Cheltenham Town in the FA Cup.
Booty appears to be a bit right-footed but, according to the Evening Echo he has experience of playing on both sides.
