Self-importance

A few days ago I noted that my local MP had not replied to my letter about the new Highway Code’s potential impact on cycling in Britain. In the interests of fairness, I should note that I have this evening received a reply from him to inform me that his researcher is looking into the matter and, interestingly, ‘The speed of any response from me is related to the urgency and
importance I attach to a constituent’s enquiry and not to whether a self-important web-site is monitoring “performance.”‘

This from a man who has only ever rebelled against his party when it might adversely affect his pocket.
