There’s an interesting difference here in iBook experiences. I’m typing this from a shiny new iBook G4 which we received on Saturday as a replacement for the G3 whose logic board died, for the fourth time this year, a short while ago.

The G3 is sat next to me as Apple UK do not intend to collect it until after Christmas. Set up and transfer of data was as simple as connecting the two computers with a Firewire cable and starting up the G3 in target disc mode. Migration Assistant did the rest with no difficulties at all. (It did, however, take a while but that was always likely to be the case when there’s nigh on 25 gigabytes of data, applications and preferences to transfer.)
